The dual link DVI-D cable is perfect for displaying high definition video for your computer, HDTV, and other DVI supported devices. DVI stands for Digital Visual Interface, which provides high definition video signals that support resolutions from 1920×1080 (single link) to 2560×1600 (dual link). PI Manufacturing's DVI cable features the DVI-D connector, providing both single-link and dual-link digital only connections. Our DVI-D cables also contain gold plated contacts to ensure reliability and reduce noise. Often times DVI gets compared to the newer digital standard HDMI. Both are digital, however there are some differences. First, DVI only supports RGB, while HDMI supports both RGB and YCbCr. Second, a HDMI cable will carry digital audio and video all on one single cable, while a DVI cable will only carry video. Another major difference is that certain high-definition content on Blu-Ray discs often times contain HDCP protection, which is an encrypted standard for copy protection. All HDMI cables will support HDCP, but the DVI standard will not. Though the DVI cable does not contain certain features of HDMI, it's still widely used in personal and business computers today due to its high bandwidth and video signal clarity.
